I like Orvis, but it seems that everytime I go to Orvis to buy flies they're out of the ones I want.

In the middle of June how are they out of Sulphurs? Also, they have a limited selection of small emergers.

Randy,

I buy almost nothing from Orvis, preferring my local shop, but for goodness sake.....

How are they out of sulfurs?? They sold them all!!! I was fishing those 2 1/2 months ago. A limited selection of small emergers?? Maybe they have no trouble selling those.

They are a BUSINESS. Things go on sale to get them out of the inventory, not to make me or you happy. At 0.50 per fly (plus $6 shipping for the number I bought), that's less than 0.65 a fly. I'll buy some ppatterns at that price just to try them out, or to keep from having to buy snowshoe rabbit. They actually made me happy as well as them.

Well checking the forum today cost me!!! Thaks Bill! Confused 5o cent flies, bargin, sale, all the right words and a few I really needed---er right!
Rolling Eyes
Ah well - with a fly inventory that would do credit to many stores I don't need any fly but the latest, better, ah that key word, "better," fly! Truth is that up on the lakes I primarily fish a size 12 and 14 Blue Dun Dry is about all you really need to stay busy. For some reason the Callebaetis are that ghostly blue/grey color here being a bit darker with more specks when in the dun stage and going almost translucent except for a few spots on the leading edge of the wing when in the Spinner stage.
